We are seeking a highly motivated individual to assist and support scientific investigations in the areas of neuroscience (neuromuscular and neurodegenerative diseases). The selected individual will conduct research funded by NIH focused on elucidating the mechanism(s) by which viral proteins (dUTPase protein family) from herpesviruses modulate muscle and brain cell functions using a variety of molecular, cellular and biological research techniques including 2D and 3D cell culture (neurons, astrocytes, microglia, cerebral endothelial cells), pluripotent stem cell differentiation, overexpression and/or gene knock-down, flow-cytometry, confocal microscopy (live cell imaging and fixed cell microscopy), proteomics, genomics, qPCR, Western blot analysis and ELISA assays. He/She will also test and develop new procedures as directed by the research findings; perform and record analysis of research results; validate data obtained using different experimental procedures; write manuscripts and present scientific research at annual conferences, conduct literature searches and maintain accurate records of laboratory research activities.
