During the event, the audience had the opportunity to listen to Dr. Ana Munoz, President of ECUSA and a secondary science teacher and research scientist specialized in environmental microbiology with more than five years of postdoctoral experience in biodiversity studies, biodegradation processes, enzymatic optimization, and molecular biology.
She shared her personal experience and challenges faced as a woman in science during her career both in Spain and in the USA. The event was hosted by the Cultural Office of the Embassy of Spain in the USA.
Keynote speaker:
Dr. Ana Muñoz obtained her PhD in soil microbiology from the University of Extremadura, was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Minnesota and USDA (Department of Agriculture in USA), and a scientist at the I&D department of Abengoa Bioenergy New Technologies. She is currently a coordinator and teacher in the bilingual Immersion Program of APS (Arlington Public Schools) in Virginia. She received the 2021 Bilingual Teacher of the Year Award in the USA.
