Brief Description: Nanotechnology, ICN2) is seeking to appoint a creative and motivated postdoctoral researcher to participate in an ongoing project on spin trasnport and proximity effects using van der Waals heterostructures. The appointed candidate will be responsible for the design and detailed characterization of devices comprising materials such as graphene, 2D ferromagnets, topological insulator compounds and/or transition metal dichalcogenides. S/he will carry out process development, documentation of processes and implement the required steps to fabricate the devices using exfoliation methods and deterministic transfer in inert environment. S/he characterize the devices, investigate quantum (spin) transport and seek to understand and maximise the spin-orbit and magnetic proximity effects whithin selected heterostructures. S/he es expected to collaborate with other PEN members focused on related topics

Postdoctoral Researcher : Phononic and Photonic Nanostructures Group

Brief Description: The tasks associated with the position are mainly experimental research with a contribution to simulation work. The job holder will be responsible for research on inelastic light scattering spectroscopy methods of detection of standard and topological phonons. S/He will contribute to experimental work on topological bosonic waveguides and to the simulation efforts of phonon energy band structure. Interaction with the team at the Technical Research Centre of Finland – VTT, will be crucial for sample design and fabrication and the job holder will actively participate in sample design. Research planning, experimental method development, carrying out of planned and new experiments, analysis of data and publication of results are integral part of the activities associated with the position, as well as actively contribute to consortium-level activities.

Brief Description: We are looking for a highly motivated research engineer to be in charge of the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the recently acquired state-of-the-art Thermofisher Spectra 300, a joint initiative of several institutions of international prestige that have established a collaboration agreement, specifically the ICN2, CSIC (and its ICMAB-CSIC center), UAB and ALBA, with contributions also from BIST and Microsoft. This microscope will be installed in the newly created Advanced Electron Microscopy Platform in the ALBA-CELLS synchrotron facilities during June 2022.
