ECUSA en el Wisconsin Science Festival

  • University of Wisconsin Madison, WI US

Our Spanish ECUSA members belong to different science disciplines. So we are planning to distribute different tasks through the two preferred days. During the mornings and with the presence of kids, we will display a hand-on exploration station where kids will be able to isolate DNA from banana, inflate a balloon with a chemical reaction, and play with non-Newtonian fluids. During the afternoon we will engage adult public to talk about brewing yeasts, Formula 1 engines and how the brain works. We will allow adults to smell different yeast species to appreciate microbial diversity, and we will provide pictures and information about science performed by our ECUSA members in the Midwest, especially in Wisconsin. Our outreach will be performed in English and if requested in Spanish as well. We are also interested in targeting the latino community in Wisconsin and this will be a great opportunity to engage underrepresented groups of people
